Our 1st Christmas and into the New Year 07.......

Our first Christmas has come and gone....New Year 07 is here.....

Our first Christmas has just flew by so quickly its was over before you had chance to reflect, first it was our Base Christmas party for the kids and then at the night time the adult base Village Green 06, with Kiwi bands Stella, Foamey Ed, and De Jar Vu Du. We had lots of rain to go with it that night but still had a good time, Matthew had a good time and got to see most things that went on that night. Then we had an end of Section BBQ at our house and it had to go on into the early hours I'm afraid until we run out of Beer and Spirits and then the big tidy began the next day, we then had the last few bits of bobs of christmas shopping to do before the big day and not enough hours left me shopping right up to Christmas Eve around 10:00pm. Christmas morning was even better the Sun came out and the kids were up around 06;00am and a lazy day on Long Bay Beach ensued for all of us with a Beach picnic and the kids thoroughly enjoyed their different surroundings compared to the usual run of the mill UK Christmas day. Boxing day was held in our friends garden and we invited a few Singly's from Base who would normally be bored and stuck in their rooms, so we invited them to our Base Housing and cooked a traditional UK Christmas dinner in the sunshine and got totally "Bladdered" at the night time, some of us had to stay semi sober for the kids sake...... Some serious drying out was in order to the run up to New Year and we continued our New Year BBQ around the Cotton's household who were good enough to invite us and we cordially invited them to play the very popular Buzz game and the new Jungle Buzz Junior so some good allround entertainment was had to well into the early hours with fireworks bringing in our New Year 07 in Kiwi Land.....

Our Official Housewarming Party In NZ.....

Well it had to happen the Official Housewarming Party by the Jones family cos the rest of the Pomms just never got around to it or they didn't want the mess or tidy up afterwards....... But we got through it and most of Sunday was spent on a huge tidy up but lucky for us we don't have carpets only polished wooden floors so the wet sponge did the trick and all was put back to pristine condition in a few hours, bottle bin was full and couldn't believe the consumption of various beers and spirits. Some hardened drinkers were on the premises that night, some strange nibbles were brought by various people and some extavagent meals were also made but most seemed to finish most that was left over and we were all a bit hungover to say the least. Some very interesting people had very different comments to what their mind set is towards them living the new life on the North Shore, but most have settled in well and are doing just fine, some are still finding their feet and some have homesickness to still get over and call this wonderful place THEIR home.......and finally set their roots. Time just goes so fast here in the Southern Hemisphere and its so full on packed with varied weekends you take for granted sometimes, but Christmas is fast approaching and our Official Works Party is next "Purple Bus Company to Avondale Race course, 3* meal and drinks and Disco. Should be good fun and will have to keep you all posted how that goes......
