Dairy Farming here we come........
So I gained an interview for a 2IC position in the Dairy Industry and took off to Palmy to see how I could adapt and if this pushed all the right buttons for me personally. Dairy Farming is a huge Industry and intrigued me somewhat, so yesterday I spent most of my day at a huge Dairy Farm in Dannevirke and got stuck in with the afternoon milk, putting the mob back to pasture and mixing supplement and general maintenance around the farm. By 21:35pm back on a domestic flight back to Auckland and home by 23:30pm.
Today was catching up with family and waiting for the call from the owners if I had been successful with the position or not, well around 2:00pm today I finally got the call to say the job was mine and with a start date of 01st July ready for calving running into August and family settled also into the 3 bedroom house provided. This is such a hard decision to make but I seem compelled to make the move to a better part of the North Island out of the rat race in Auckland.
I am sure I can make the transition from wearing the blue uniform to overalls and gumboots and family settled to a more tranquil way of life on a section in the country, even though it will mean early starts for me every morning but I will adjust and so will the family I am sure. So Monday morning is the day to 717 and make the move with so much work to do, clean the MQ, get quotes to shift our furniture down to Dannevirke, sort schools for the kids, someone tell me I'm mad......
I remember my Grandfather saying to me ! "Live your life today as if there will be no tomorrow"
Those words today seem so true, I have questioned myself and talked to so many friends and people today, had so much encouragement so we are going our minds are made up.
