Last week to clean the House before we move

This week was a busy week for us all with Chloe out of school with flu most of the week, on top of all that we had a lot to get done if we are going to be in a position to March out on Friday 27th and hoping to get down to Dannevirke the very same day. After a good few days making good the garden and getting stuck into the Kitchen cleaning, by the way I would just like to add this statement for the record. "I hate with passion MQ cookers" cleaning them is such a big ask with all that burnt ground in grease, unless you wrap them up in tin foil you just know its going to be the biggest pain for days. But nearly there now I have made some good ground the last few days getting the garden lawns something like landscaped to pass the Marchout.

Today saw a huge amount of junk processed to the landfill in Henderson, why do we have to save so much junk and think one day we will have a good use for it, we never do !! we always end up taking a trip to the landfill site and paying out $$$$ to get rid as domestic waste. Work these last few days have been an immense task to make the effort and turn in, but I have to make the effort and show willing and hopefully I can end on a high. Saturday is our farewell party in the Sportsbar at Base Auckland and should have a good response to the email and turnout, we are starting at 4:30pm and finishes at 23:30pm and we have the game kicking off around 7;30pm so should be some good atmosphere in the bar. The house seems empty now without our faithful dog Harley and it has pulled the heart strings of us all this week, but I had no other option I keep telling myself, I just couldn't risk him worrying the herd when we got him down there with him being used to a section and not fields and space.

Had to let Harley go to a new home....Sad Day...

Today was a bad day in many ways, first to have to leave your pet dog from 6 weeks old to a new home because of the job sucks big time. But I had no choice if I was to move family to a dream farm and move on from the RNZAF, to make this work we could not chance him worrying the herd of 850 with over 250 in calf at this time.
The risk is too great and there is the likelihood he would get out and wander as there is so much land to keep checking.

252 hectares is a huge land mass to keep a check with 5 staff and he has such a diverse temperament of late with only being 6 months old, so we made the decision to re-home him now and not have to take the worry with us to Dannevirke. He has had such ups and downs as we knew he would be he is still a baby for 6 months and typical Ridegeback, very very stubborn.

But the time we have had him he has been very much part of the family and has grown on my wife Sherren and became the Alpha Male and took to her commands and was a good dog. I shall miss him and know the SPCA will adopt him to a good home in time, the processes involved are good and know they go a long way to make sure he has a good life ahead of him.

Farming is a massive leap of faith for all of us and such a good opportunity at this time of uncertainty in our lives especially with the RNZAF and restrictions in place due to not being a citizen. So this is a great chance to see what else there is out there and try some other career within NZ and try to make a good go of Dairy Farming. Life is too short you have to make good of what your instincts tell you is best.
